Local Scenes

Carlsbad is located on the coast in San Diego's North County. Other beach cities include Oceanside and Encinitas, and about 20 miles east is Escondido, home of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (see Elephant below). We are bordered by water on three sides: lagoons and the Pacific Ocean, all of which are popular subjects for paintings.

The Carlsbad Sign

In 2015, the City of Carlsbad erected a gateway sign on Pacific Coast Highway (i.e., Carlsbad Blvd.). It was hung indefinitely in City Hall directly outside of the Mayor's office.
