Morro Bay Around Town
The Central Coast is a source of endless inspiration. From the rural farmland to the harbor, unspoiled coastlines north on Highway One, and hiking trails in Montana de Oro park, there are pictures to paint. I usually take photo expeditions and paint at "our" house in Morro Bay. Both aspects force me to really look at the surroundings, and the compositions bring me more in touch with the beauty.
Hollister Peak is one of “The Nine Sisters” (as is Morro Rock) of volcanic plugs, and I've returned to it as a subject. It's just over four miles from the Morro Bay and can be seen from beach. I've gotten close to it in some compositions and also spied a fantastic view of it near sunset during a short hike on Black Mountain, just outside of town.
