Sunsets

Living a mile from the Pacific Ocean (closer when we're in Morro Bay), watching the sunset is a regular ritual, and it is also a constant inspiration—spiritually and artistically.

Many of the pictures on this page are included in other themes, though some are not—particularly "Sunsets 2015" which is a series of ten paintings. I began with a series of three views of the same sunset in progress. Each (#1-3) has an entirely different palette of two blues, yellows, and reds. There were no overlapping colors. These form a tryptic and are hung as a group. Then, I combined all 18 colors in #4, which was also based that same sunset.
